Parking and ending your trip
How do I lock the car if I want to park for a short period of time?
Before you exit the car, select ‘Park & Come Back’ on the in-car screen and lock the car with the ReachNow app or your Member Key card on the windshield card reader. You will be charged a reduced rate ($0.10 per minute) while the vehicle is parked.
Do I have to return the vehicle to the location where I picked it up?
No. ReachNow is a free-floating car sharing service, which means you can end your trip anywhere in the Home Area. When you're done driving, park in any legal parking space on the street, including for free at meters in Portland.
How do I end a trip?
Once you’ve found a legal parking space, tap the Start/Stop engine button. Double check that all the windows (including the sunroof) are closed. Grab all your items and then lock the car to end your trip using your ReachNow app or tap your Member Key card on the windshield card reader. When the light on the reader turns green, your trip is complete.
Where can I drop off ReachNow vehicles?
You can park your ReachNow vehicle anywhere you find a legal street parking spot inside the Home Area. You're welcome to take the car outside of the Home Area, but you are responsible for parking at and paying for meters.
Can I take a ReachNow Portland car to Seattle?
Absolutely, but you cannot leave it there. ReachNow Portland cars call Portland home and must be returned to the Portland Home Area to end your trip. If you're headed to Seattle, you're welcome to bring a ReachNow Portland car roundtrip. Or, if you get to Seattle another way, your membership lets you use ReachNow while in Seattle.
Can I use ReachNow in the snow?
Winter driving requires special consideration. Our ReachNow fleet of xDrive (all-wheel drive) vehicles does great in most conditions, more on xDrive here. The BMW 3-Series and BMW X1 vehicles feature xDrive. However, our cars do not have cold weather tires, nor do we provide tire chains. Do not take a ReachNow vehicle where chains are mandatory.
Where can I park?
Regular on-street parking spaces
You can park anywhere inside the Home Area for free as long as the spot is legal. You cannot park in spots designated for another use (For example: commercial vehicle load zones, truck load and unload, food-vehicle zones, reserved electric car spaces or disabled parking zones, etc.). There are some situations where zones are temporarily no park zones. Play it safe and avoid parking in temporary no park zones less than 12 hours before it converts to a no park zone. You will be responsible for any tickets or towing fees if the car needs to be removed.
Can I park in Residential Parking Zones?
Yes, within the Home Area, you can legally park in residential parking zones - no special permit required. You must be within the Home Area to end your reservation. Be mindful not to block any driveways or loading zones.
Special parking spaces
You can park in metered spots, or spots with time limits of at least 1 hour or more.
Parking lots, even ones that say "public parking," are not free to use with ReachNow. While it’s okay to park temporarily in a private lot, you are responsible for any private parking charges and you cannot end a trip there. To end your trip, you must find a legal street parking space inside the Home Area.
