Let’s face it - a lot of the PNW’s “must-see” spots center around hiking and summiting steep climbs for an epic vista. We’re here to help by sharing some of our favorite spots that still entail an epic adventure but don’t require hiking boots and avid outdoor skills.
No hiking required! Just head up to Crystal Mountain Resort, park and grab a ticket up the epic Mt. Rainier Gondola. You’ll find beautiful views of Mt. Rainier and a restaurant at the top of the mountain.
2. Snoqualmie Falls:
With it’s free viewing area, you’re able to see one of Washington State’s most popular scenic attractions. Complete with a two acre park, gift shop, observation deck and more - the 270 foot waterfall gives you the perfect views without any strenuous hiking.
3. Multnomah Falls:
Another iconic waterfall in the PNW is Multnomah Falls, just south of Portland, Oregon. Fed by underground springs from Larch Mountain, this vast waterfall has gorgeous views. To visit, you can head to Multnomah Falls Lodge for a viewing platform along iwth USDA Forest Service Information Center, a snack bar, and a gift shop. Pro-tip: parking at Multnomah Falls fills quickly during the summer season, and weekends are extremely busy between 11am and 4pm.
4. Painted Hills:
As one of the most gorgeous sceneries in the PNW, these require a little walking but most of the observation walks are unelevated - worth it! Located in the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, these gorgeous hills are listed as one of the seven wonders of Oregon.
Accessible from both Oregon and Washington, the Columbia River Gorge is unique, beautiful and accessible via car to drive through and soak in the views. Learn more about ways to access the Gorge and view the river from various parts throughout the PNW.
